Yarraweyah Falls Farm is a 1499-hectare property in the Shire of Gnowangerup, which combines outstanding natural values and landscape features with high quality farmland. Its stunning waterfall and spectacular views to the Stirling Ranges make this property an exceptional purchase opportunity for a conservation buyer.

Yarraweyah has high conservation significance, providing habitat for a number of rare and locally endemic species, including whipbirds and malleefowl. It is located in one of 34 international biodiversity hotspots and forms an important link in the remaining bushland between the Fitzgerald River and Stirling Ranges National Parks.

As a whole, the property comprises 620 hectares of fully developed land, 200 hectares of commercial sandalwood plantation under Profit a Prendre to the Forest Products Commission and 680 hectares of unique bushland. There is potential to plant the remainder of the developed land to sandalwood.

Tenders in excess of $750,000 are invited from prospective purchasers. Yarraweyah Falls Farm would be the ideal purchase for someone with an interest in conservation, who is keen to protect and enjoy this property’s unique natural values.

Expressions of interest should be directed to Neville Tutt, Landmark Real Estate, on 0419 193 500 or (08) 9842 7888.

Envirofund grant

The National Trust has been successful in its application for an Envirofund grant for the rehabilitation of Yarraweyah Falls Farm.

To date, approximately 200 hectares of the property has been revegetated, in partnership with the Forest Products Commission. The $35,900 grant will enable the Trust to carry out further on-ground works at Yarraweyah Falls Farm, to protect the existing bushland from degradation, increase the natural habitat and improve land affected by salinity and erosion. The project will include fencing of the bushland, stoning of gullies (to reduce erosion) and revegetation of the poorer quality agricultural land, exposed gullies and salt scolds with native species.

Flora and fauna surveys

A recent survey at Yarraweyah Falls Farm, in the Shire of Gnowangerup, has revealed three Malleefowl mounds on the property, one of which appears to be very active. The survey also recorded a diverse range of other flora and fauna species, including echidnas, emus and Acacia trulliformis, which is recognised as a Declared Rare Flora. The survey data will be used to inform the ongoing management and interpretation of the site.
