Stewardship
National Trust Stewardship Services
The National Trust of Australia (WA) provides management support and advice to all National
Trust covenantors. The stewardship program ensures that values protected under the covenant are managed as far as is possible. Stewardship
services include:
-
The provision of management plans prepared jointly between the
owner and the Trust. The plan goves practical advice on strategies to make sure the conservation values are protected.
-
The provision of ongoing management advice.
-
Support with raising funds
or providing services to manage the land.
-
Support with management issues raised by other agencies and neighbours.
-
Preparing a revised management plan with new purchasers and
assisting new and potential purchasers to understand the opportunities and commitments under a covenant.
Land for Wildlife
Many of our National Trust covenantors are also members of Land for Wildlife (LFW). LFW provides support, information and advice to assist landholders to conserve remnant vegetation
and manage their land for the benefit of native wildlife. LFW membership is
complementary to the conservation covenant stewardship offered by the Trust.
LFW have many officers, located from Coorow to Albany, and there is bound to be one near you. Membership
is free and a LFW Officer will visit your property when you join. Members have access to a variety of useful publications, including
Wildlife Notes, Managing Your Bushland and the quarterly Western Wildlife
publication. For further Wildlife Notes please go
to the Department of Environment and Conservation website.
