Property Donations
In addition to financial donations, the National Trust can also receive donations of property.
These properties are protected with a conservation
covenant and may be on-sold via the BushBank revolving fund. The proceeds from the sale
can then be used to purchase and protect more important bushland.
If you would like to find out more about donating property to the BushBank revolving fund
please contact us.
The National Trust has received two tax deductible donations of bushland to date:
Nunn Block, Bridgetown
This 194-hectare property was originally
donated to the National Trust in 2003 by Sotico Pty Ltd. It is approximately 18km west of Bridgetown and is surrounded by state forest. Nunn Block was sold to the
Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) in October 2006, with the intention that the property will be incorporated into the
Dalgarup National Park. The
proceeds of the sale will be used to fund the State Conservation Covenant Program.
The vegetation on the property is mainly jarrah forest with
redgum, blackbutt, grass trees (blackboys) and bracken. The block is well watered with gully waterways.
Walpole Property
This 40.5 ha property was donated to the National Trust of Australia (WA) in 2001. The property
adjoins the Walpole-Nornalup National Park, and the Shannon-D’Entrecasteaux National Park. The two Parks do not have a common boundary, so it
provides an important linkage between them for wildlife.
The vegetation consists of coastal heath, low forest of peppermint and banksia and forest with
jarrah, marri and karri.
The property has now been transferred to the Department of Environment and Conservation, who
will manage it in conjunction with the Walpole-Nornalup National Park.
